Timebox Alldayer & Buckingham Palace Scooter Run 2011

After last year’s huge success we return to the fabulous Strongrooms in Shoreditch for this year’s event. We have a smashing day out planned for all you fun seekers in the Capitol on Whitsun Bank Holiday. Meet at the top of Carnaby Street 14.00 sharp for a swift departure for the famous ‘Buckingham Palace Scooter Run’ taking in the sights of the Capitol (check the website for the route). The cruise will finish @ The Strongroom with a free alldayer complete with free off street parking for scooters only. Alldayer includes a Scooter comp, live bands, DJ’s and BBQ. All we need now is some fine weather!

NUTs 13th Anniversary - 2010

 

 

NEW UNTOUCHABLES 13TH ANNIVERSARY PARY & TRIBUTE TO THE ACTION

We reported on the New Untouchables website back in January the passing of one of our heroes and good friend Mike Evans bass player of the Action. Well sadly another one of our idols from the band lead singer Reg King died on Friday 8 October from cancer. Two members of our favourite band and much loved Mod group passing away in one year is a cruel blow!

A small group of fans managed to attend Reggie’s funeral on Tuesday 26 October in South London with less than 24 hours notice for a wonderful service with ‘Since I Lost My Baby’ and ‘Shadows and Reflections’ both played at the beginning and end of the service. I know there would have been many more fans who would like to have attended and paid their respects to both Mike and Reg so please join us when the New Untouchables will pay tribute to them both on Sat 13 November at Charlotte Street Blues Club (a stone’s throw from Mike’s old office in Goodge Street) on our 13th anniversary party.

The band will always be closely linked to our hearts and minds here at N.U HQ. The Action played a pivotal role in our early days, between the first reformation show in Ryde Theatre, IOW on August bank holiday 1998 to the last show at Modstock in 2004 we shared many wonderful experiences and great memories I will never forget. The band members especially Mike went on to become good friends and I miss all the great banter we had about football and music.
A few months ago a great band from Pompey got in touch by the name of ‘The Birdcage Set’ after the infamous Mod/R&B venue on the south coast which will always be synonymous with The Action after their legendary performances and scooter escorts from the edge of town to the venue. The Birdcage Set naturally perform a number of Action songs including ‘Shadows and Reflections’, ‘Hey Sha-Lo-Ney’, ‘I’ll keep on holding on’ and ‘In My Lonely Room’ and will add a few more to the repertoire for this special occasion along with other Mod anthems.

Pete and Roger from the band will be there along with band member’s family and friends including the researcher of the forthcoming Action book Jane Sheppard whose partner Ian Hebditch is the author and number one Action fan who also sadly passed away not so long ago.

A phenomenal night anticipated what with our Dj team and special guests taking the party way into the wee hours with two rooms of the best music ever made and a chance to appreciate the amazing legacy of THE ‘Ultimate’ ACTION and raise a glass to Mike, Reggie and Ian we do hope you can join us!

Yes we are excited. After the huge success of the book expo at the recent Brighton weekender the London launch of the brand new Mod’s book called ‘I’m One’’ (21st Century Mod’s) with over 160 pages and 140 illustrations by the talented photographer Horst R Friedrichs hits the Capitol on Saturday 24th October. Horst has spent the last twelve years documenting the current Mod scene bringing the Modernist story bang up to date with this high quality book with hard back cover and comment from Pete Townsend, Rob Bailey and Paulo Hewitt plus quotes from scene members. The exhibition with 30+ framed prints of some of the photos featured in the book will be on display at the Charlotte St Blues Club. The book will be available to purchase on the night and is available from the NUTSTORE. Following the Expo is the New Untouchables 12th anniversary party allnighter on two floors with sumptuous sounds from our selectors at this plush new central London venue.
